More birds continued to move over New Jersey last night, even in the face of light SE winds. The radar shows a moderate liftoff of birds early in the night, and the velocity shows the movement from NE to SW. Not much action is seen after 2am, so it doesn’t look like large densities of birds have arrived in our area this morning. This time of year is tricky, since birds may hang around for awhile given good foraging habitat and only marginal migration weather. The cold front originally forecast to arrive tonight will not arrive until sometime tomorrow afternoon, so conditions for migration will likely not be optimal until Sunday night.
