No Migration Detected

No migration over New Jersey last night, as weather to our south coupled with unfavorable winds, failed to entice our feathered friends. The south, on the other hand, experienced a large movement from Florida all the way up into the Carolinas. This means ‘bird on the way’ as soon as weather in the Northeast becomes a bit more favorable. Tonight winds are forecast out of the south with a chance of rain throughout the evening. Depending on the timing and intensity of rain, migration over our area may be heavy and birds may become concentrated. I’ll post an evening report before 10pm with a more detailed forecast.

  1. Two new birds in returned to the forest. A White-eyed Vireo and Scarlet Tanager. The Prairie Warbler, Chipping and Field Sparrows continue to defend territories…hopefully the gazillion Brown-headed Cowbirds won’t totally nullify their efforts.
