So far it looks like some really heavy migration over New Jersey…the bad news is that there’s a big storm to our south, over Virginia and the Carolinas, that’s blocking any chance of an influx of birds. To make matters worse, the winds are forecast to be out of the northeast and northwest on Friday and Saturday nights respectively. I guess this is as good a time as any to get out your bird song CD’s and start brushing up for the next wave of migrants coming sometime next week.

Also of interest, my coworker down in Florida, who just returned from a 25 warbler species trip to the Dry Tortugas, has now found a Yellow-faced Grassquit singing its head off in her backyard…how lucky is that???
