Libellula needhami - closeup

For all of you who were using the radar site, I apologize for bailing out without warning. I thought I would have regular internet access down in the Everglades, but alas, it wasn’t to be.

Anyway, I’m back now- going through hundreds of photographs that I took in Florida. DRAGONFLIES! Dragonflies are one of my newest passions. Birding in South Florida during the summer can be quite slow, especially in the sawgrass prairies where we worked. But dragonflies, now there’s something to look at in the absence of birds! I’ll be posting more images to my flickr account as I have time, so please check there often.

As for the radar, I don’t think I’ll be going back down to Florida during migration next year, so I can dedicate more time to the site both this Fall and next Spring. Thanks for all of the great support, feedback, and participation from so many birders in the Northeast.
