Migration over the Northeast

See my post from last night regarding the strange weather affecting migration. Below is the radar from sunset last night through sunrise this morning. The base reflectivity and velocity images show strong migration over the western half of New Jersey with a major influx into everywhere except the southeastern portion of the state. This was due, in part, to the strong easterly winds south of the Delmarva, pushing birds out to the west around the Bay. Best bets for birding this morning will be inland sites such as Garret Mountain, and I would expect sites along the Delaware River, such as Washington’s Crossing, to be loaded with birds as well. Also check the regional radar loop I’ve posted to see how strong the migration was across the states just west of us, extending up into New York. Awesome!

Good Birding
