Tiny movements

Just a small “blip” of birds moving over New Jersey last night. I’m not quite sure what the deal was, but judging by the Northeast composite image, it looks like precipitation was to blame. Storms moving across from the southeast seem to have kept migration to a minimum, even given the favorable southerly winds. Only small densities of birds were seen leaving Virginia and the Delmarva peninsula but not making it into New Jersey; while only a trickle of local birds moved from the southern to the central region of our state. Best bets are central New Jersey northward, unless you want to see the first Gnatcatchers- which were in Belleplain over the weekend as reported by Karen Johnson (thanks Karen!) and two extremely nice people I met at the visitor’s center whose names escape me.
