Birds on the move tonight

Okay, I’m back.
Birds are on the move tonight, with moderate to high densities leaving Virginia and the Delmarva en route for New Jersey. Winds are light out of the W/SW at around 3000 feet which is providing some tail wind for birds on the move tonight. Expect new birds tomorrow, with the Bayshore, Garret Mountain and Sandy Hook having the best chance of high densities. Because of the westerly winds, I’d personally choose to check Sandy Hook. This push of migrants should make for a nice World Series of Birding tomorrow! I’ll post the radar in the morning…but probably not until 6:30am.

Good Birding

  1. Yes, they were moving! And they put down in Cumberland County in good numbers and excellent diversity. Calm winds and some light fog perhaps helped on that front. VEERY, BLACK-BILLED CUCKOOS, MAGNOLIA WARBLERS, BLACKPOLLS, BLACK-THROATED BLUES were the numbers winners. Some less numerous migrants included BAY-BREASTED, NASHVILLE, and CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER.
