Migration Alert: Wisconsin

As the stationary front draped across southern Wisconsin strengthens and draws up moisture, expect it to form a formidable barrier to migrants heading up from south of us. Tonight the forecast is for strengthening southwest winds but little precipitation so expect new birds to be pushed to the lake shore around Milwaukee and Green Bay by morning. By tomorrow night a tight band of precipitation along the front should be over southern Wisconsin and Michigan with strong SSW wind to its south, and strong NE winds to the north. This is precisely the condition you would expect to cause fallout conditions along the frontal boundary. Because fallout conditions are so conditional on the opposing wind and precipitation, watching how the front sets up and how airborne migrants interact with it will be required to best predict the hotspots of fallout activity. Stay tuned to woodcreeper.com for more as conditions develop!
