If you are reading this it’s because you’re passionate about birds; why else would you be here? The truth is that while funding for conservation continues to decline nationwide, the need for protecting important bird areas such as stopover habitat for migrants (the focus of my research and this website), and breeding habitat for species such as the Greater Prairie Chicken and Kirtland’s Warbler, continues to rise.

Here in Wisconsin over 34% of our 284 species of birds are Species of Greatest Conservation Need.

The Wisconsin’s Bird Protection Fund directly supports projects that advance bird conservation at the statewide level. Since 2008, the Bird Conservation Fund has provided $106,900 to nine bird conservation projects statewide. 

I’m asking for your support regardless of where you hail from. Because political boundaries mean as little to these birds as they do to our need to protect them. The loss of any species from Wisconsin’s landscape would be mourned by all of us.

Please pledge to support our Great Wisconsin Birdathon team, the Eagle Optics Team Bird So Hard.  I’m so proud to have such a great group of birders committed to participating in this event and to raising as much money as possible for the Wisconsin Bird Protection Fund.
