Woodcreeper On The Road: POINT PELEE FESTIVAL OF BIRDS DAY 2

Today is my second full day at Point Pelee National Park in Ontario and will kick off as it did yesterday, with me leading a walk looking for migrants throughout this historic spring hotspot. But before that, let’s look at the radar and see what was going on overhead during the night.

So I’m now in Leaminton, Ontario for the 2013 Point Pelee Festival of Birds and I’m really looking forward to visiting this renowned spring migration hotspot for the next two days. Many birds arrived to the region two nights ago but winds have since turned northerly and will continue to be through my visit. It’ll be interesting to see how this affects the birding conditions here and I can’t wait to get out in the field this morning!

Todays is my last day in Ohio, and will be my first evening in Ontario as I head north to join the Festival of Birds in Point Pelee National Park. Before I head north, though, I’m going to check out the birds that await us on the Magee Marsh boardwalk. Judging by the radar it should be awesome this morning!

Here I go again on another adventure! This time I’m heading to The Biggest Week for two days before a big international trip across the border to the Point Pelee Festival of Birds. This will be my first trip to both places and I’m totally stoked. To celebrate I’ll be posting the radar data for Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, and Detroit, MI, and will try to make sense of it all in terms of migration at these two classic spring hotspots.
