Birds? fugghetaboutit!

Here’s the radar and velocity from last night. See my previous post for a discussion of the weather. When looking at the radar you can see the trough to the south that was blocking any incoming migration. This is a common occurrence in the spring, and sometimes if the trough moves north overnight, the result can be an influx of new birds. Unfortunately this front only moved slightly north last night, just enough to keep the migration south of us. Watching the radar and velocity, you can almost hear Bob Marley and the Wailers singing “Exodus”. Birds were definitely on the move last night- out of New Jersey, that is. I’d guess that today local birding spots would see less numbers overall.
