Birds on the move

Birds were on the move last night, with winds out of the west after sunset, switching around to the northwest around midnight. In the first image of the radar loop you can see the back edge of the cold front that passed over us yesterday. This is the same cold front that sparked a massive migration along the central flyway two nights ago. Our local forecast is uncertain about tonight’s winds, which may be light and variable, or have switched around to the SW. Keep an eye out for another cold front crossing our area on Friday. I’ll be out of town from tomorrow through Sunday, so use the real-time radar website to check the NEXRAD before heading out.

Good Birding!
