Tonight is looking good!

Winds should switch to Northwest tonight, so I expect some impressive migration this evening. I’ll post an update late tonight and the radar in the early morning. While I’ll be doing point counts at HMF, coastal sites tomorrow could be packing some nice diversity.

Update: Well, the winds didn’t switch as much as expected, but birds are on the radar in Central New York, and they’re heading SE, so we should see some new birds by morning. Right now the radar over New Jersey shows a general WNW–>ESE flow. The winds are calm at the surface, so it’s possible that this is bird migration at higher altitude (winds are northwesterly at 800mb tonight). I’ll post the radar in the morning which will hopefully provide some more information.
