Migration in progress

Light south winds tonight…yet the radar is showing some migration. Much of what is on there is anomalous propagation (probably due to the warm day followed by a clear, cool night), although there is some N –> S movement evident on the velocity image.
The migration looks better in South Jersey and points south of there (Norfolk VA is REALLY kicking!). For this reason I don’t think we’ll see a huge influx (also because the birds leaving central NY are heading in a NE –> SW direction), but if birds do keep moving overnight the light south winds should tempt them to land at first light. We’ll have to see, but I think tomorrow will be another fair birding day at most locations, and probably a good day at the migrant traps.

I’ll post the radar in the AM
