  • Another night without migration over the NE and Mid-Atlantic

More southerly winds kept birds down last night. Heavy migration was evident on the Central and Mississippi flyways, so it’s just a matter of time before things pick up again on the East Coast. In fact, it looks like Thursday night will be the night for flight over the region, with NW winds filling in […]

  • No migration last night

More southerly winds kept birds from moving over the NE and mid-Atlantic US. Don’t expect much to change until the end of the week… maybe by Thursday, but more likely Friday night. There are still plenty of good birds hanging about, so get out there and check them out! Good Birding David

  • Very light flight last night

Winds were light and southerly last night, which appears to have thwarted most migration over the mid-Atlantic region. The radar did indicate some southbound birds throughout the region, but the densities were minimal at best. Frames are every 1/2 hour. Click on the thumbnail to view the full-sized animation. Southwest winds and clear skies made for optimal migration conditions last night, and birds […]

  • Nice flight last night

I’m out the door early this morning, but I just wanted to drop a note that migration was moderate to heavy across the mid-Atlantic last night. Expect good birding conditions at coastal migrant traps such as Sandy Hook and Cape May. Good Birding David
