Nice flight into and out-of the Mid-Atlantic last night…

…but no time to post the radar! Ouch!

While the majority of migration was occurring to our south (over the Southeastern US) northwest winds across the region did trigger some migration into the mid-Atlantic. With the strong westerly component to the winds, expect lots of overshoots at the coast, and hence a late morning flight at all coastal locations. You might need to wait it out today, as birds will be well offshore at daybreak. Additionally, inland migrant traps should also see new birds this morning.

Good Birding!

  1. Cape May Point. Not early, started mid morning and was concentrating more on raptors. I had a good 200 YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS. 20 PALM WARBLERS, 13 COMMON YELLOWTHROATS. Plus BLUE JAYS, BROWN CREEPERS, a few EASTERN WOOD-PEWEES, etc. I had 10 species of warbler, but the rest was one’s and two’s.
