No migration last night

Another night sans migration due to high winds out of the N/NW. It looks like although the north winds will continue through Thursday, by Thursday night they should at least have died down a bit. We’ll have to watch the weather to see how it shapes up. The birds around our house were definitely feeling the Spring- with all the regulars (Juncos, White-throats, Chickadees, Titmice, Golden-crowned Kinglets) all in full song, and a singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet on my morning walk around the woods. Yellow-rumped warblers were in good numbers as well, but none were singing their song as of yet.

Joel Penkala, a Senior at Rutgers, will be starting a point-count project at HMF this week, which means I will be able to post results from this survey in conjunction with the radar in the near future. I’m really looking forward to this systematic comparison!
