Stormy weather

Not a good night for passerine migration, as thunderstorms pounded our area keeping all birds down. As has been reflected on the Jerseybirds list, this does not equate to bad birding conditions. Shorebird numbers are high at most locations (Sandy Hook, Brig, Stone Harbor), as well as Black Terns (various locations), Roseate Terns (Sandy Hook), and a report of a flyby Sabine’s Gull (Sandy Hook). So grab a raincoat and a scope and go coastal!

  1. Lousy down here in Dc this am. I bird in Rock Creek Park.

  2. yeah…bummer around here too…although there were several Blue Grosbeaks and American Redstarts on my point counts, as well as two Purple Martins which I hadn’t seen in awhile (granted, I haven’t been around any PUMA-condos lately).
