Woodcreeper goes CafePress

I’ve had several requests recently for NJ is for Plovers stickers and such paraphernalia. I’ve set up a CafePress store where you can purchase many different items at reasonable prices, all adorned with the woodcreeper.com logo, or the NJ plover insignia. Check back often as I’ll be adding stuff all the time.

Good Birding

  1. David,

I have been looking at the Nextrad radar site a couple of times a day of the entire US. I often see the “Stippled” bullseys going from north to south in different parts of the country. Are these always bird migrations? is it possible to see them during the day?

  2. Tim,

Can you let me know which radar you were looking at? Diurnal migrants such as raptors have a much different signature (long linear signatures) since they’re rising on thermals and then cruising in the direction of travel. Nocturnal migration is easiest to detect since there are some general rules as far as travel speed and image composition that allow for the weeding out of non-bird targets. I’d be interested in looking at the images you’re mentioning though, and maybe we can figure it out.

    Thanks for commenting.

    Cheers
