Let’s Go METS

“I don’t know. In a Game 7, you can’t tell how anybody’s going to do. Game 7 is an out-of-body experience. Game 7, in stickball, is an out-of-body experience, so you can imagine what it must be like in the Major Leagues. I can tell you what it’s like in stickball, but I can’t tell you what it’s like in the Major Leagues.”
Omar Minaya, the Mets General Manager, on what to expect from Oliver Perez in tonight’s game

  1. I’m a Red Sox fan and have been since 1980, at least. But I loved watching the Mets get their act together in the early 80s (plus our cable company yanked Boston coverage). 1986 was an interesting year for me, to put it mildly.

Meanwhile, my dad’s childhood team was the Tigers. I think my dad (currently residing in Massachusetts) is rooting for the Mets now (his usual team is the Sox, but they flaked out due to the lack of a bullpen).

Baseball weaves such a tangled web. I love it.

  2. David,
Thanks for the great work on the migration…nothing like checking that radar after sunset and seeing the screen light up on a good night.

I’m just now getting over game 7. Tough way to lose. I honestly thought we were in the driver’s seat once Endy made that catch. What can you do. The good news is that, with a nice young core, this wasn’t a now-or-never kind of year. Next year we could be better if one or two of our young arms are MLB-ready. Should be an interesting offseason.
